Urgent need drives the rise in salaries

Iowa State University’s online cybersecurity master’s program has been ranked No. 20 in the nation by Fortune. Fortune ranked online cybersecurity programs by applying weighted criteria, including acceptance rate, average undergraduate GPA of 2023-24 enrollees, and graduation rate.

The Fortune report, released in March, emphasized the growing need for cybersecurity professionals. Cyberattacks are the top concern for corporations throughout the world. In the United States alone, there were over 3,200 cyberattacks in 2023, according to the Identity Theft Resource Center. The field of cybersecurity is experiencing a surge in demand for highly skilled professionals, which is reflected in the salaries earned by those with advanced degrees. Graduates of Iowa State’s online cybersecurity master’s program earn an average of $91,500 annually. This highlights the importance of pursuing advanced education in the field of cybersecurity to stay competitive in the job market and increase earning potential.
